Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q:  Are we guaranteed the DJ of our choice on the day of our event?

A:  As the owner and operator, when you hire me, you get me.  I do not subcontract to other companies.

Q:  What if something happens to you and you cannot perform?

A:  Unexpected events such as car accidents, health problems, or family emergencies could cause any entertainer to be suddenly unable to perform at an event.  I have planned for these situations by keeping two entertainers on retainer to fill in at a moment's notice.  I also work closely with several other entertainment companies who would fill in should the need arise.  I will make every effort possible to ensure that I am at the event for which I am hired, but should the unexpected occur, you will be informed of the situation and offered a choice of replacement or refund.  If you choose a replacement, rest assured that your event will be handled by a competent professional.

Q:  Do you provide a written contract?

A:  Yes.  You will receive a  written contract for your event along with a detailed invoice. These forms will also be available to you online so you may view and print them at any time.

Q:  Do you have experience with my type of event?

A:  I started High Voltage Entertainment in 1988 when I was a Radio Disc Jockey.  Since that time, I have performed at many types of events including several Weddings, School Dances, Corporate Parties, Private Parties, Holiday Parties, Street Dances, Beer Gardens, Bars & Lounges, Talent Competitions, Sporting Events,  Rock Festivals, and more!  Over half my life has been spent as being an entertainer.  I feel that the key to the success of any event is working closely with the customer to ensure that what they want is what they get.

Q:  Do you allow requests?

A:  Yes.  If a request is appropriate, an effort will be made to play it.  Not all songs are appropriate for all occasions due to language, content, and even genre.  I will use my best judgment when it comes to playing requests.

Q:  How early will you arrive to set up?

A:  A minimum of one hour is required to set up the equipment necessary to perform most shows.  It is preferable to allow extra time for sound check and to deal with any unforseen situations.  Whenever possible, the equipment will be set up, checked, and ready before the first guests arrive.

Q:  How will you be dressed?

A:  Proper attire will be chosen to suit the occasion.  A tux or suit is standard for Wedding performances, suit and tie for Corporate events.  At a Bar or Lounge you will likely see me in Khaki's and a company polo.  If all your guests are dressed in Western attire, then I'll dust off my boots and cowboy hat!  Specific requests for attire can be addressed in the planning stages of your event.

Q:  Are you insured?

A:  Yes.  A liability insurance policy is in place to protect you, your guests, the venue, and the company.

Q:  Do you use professional equipment?

A:  Yes.  Some of the brand names I use are  JBL, Mackie, Numark, Shure, American DJ, and others.  While all of these names may not be familiar to you, you can rest assured that all of the equipment used is high quality, reliable, professional equipment.

Q:  What happens if your equipment fails?

A:  I carry a backup for every piece of equipment I use.  If one should fail, there will be a replacement on hand.  Almost any component of the show can be replaced within minutes. Rest assured, The Show Will Go On!

Q:  May we contact your references?

A:  Yes and No.  Privacy is a very hot issue these days.  People are constantly being bombarded by telemarketing, email spam, and junk mail.  It is the policy of High Voltage Entertainment to never release the phone numbers, physical addresses, or email address of it's customers.  I ask all of my clients to fill out a survey form and provide comments after the event.  I am happy to share these comments with potential clients.  Some of those comments may be seen here.

Q:  Can we come and see one of your shows?

A:  Yes!  Check the calendar page for a night where I am performing at a local bar, lounge, or event that is open to the public.  This will not be the same situation as a Private Wedding or a Corporate party, but I would never dream of inviting someone to YOUR Wedding Reception or YOUR Company's holiday party.  These are private events and are not open to people who are shopping for entertainers.  If you are not invited by the host, you won't be invited by the entertainment.

Q:  Another entertainment company is less expensive.  Will you match their price?

A:  No.  Our fees are based on operating a legitimate business in a professional manner.  They reflect expenses like carrying liability insurance to protect our clients, purchasing music from legal sources, acquiring and maintaining quality equipment, and time spent providing a superior service to our clients.  We've never aspired to be one of the cheapest, but we always aspire to be one of the best.
